Nigerians Can now receive Payments through Paypal!
Good news! even though this is long overdue, but it is still a thing of joy especially for those who have been having sleepless night just because there is no way they can receive fund from people in other countries without much hassle.
If you are an entrepreneur who run online business or you offer services to people outside of Nigeria, you need a billing method for your clients and that has been a serious headache for the active minds in Nigeria.
Before now, many have gone through the stress of going as far as creating paypal business account with false country and address, and as if that is not enough, withdrawing from such account is not less stressful as creating it and in this process, many Nigerian have lost thousands of dollars to Paypal account closure or money going through the wrong channels.
Why you need Paypal Business Account in Nigeria?
As a web developer and an entrepreneur, I have seen as many reasons as you may think of to have a Paypal business account. I receive calls from clients on weekly basis asking if there is a way they could receive payments from their international clients and customers in Nigeria, sadly enough, all I could always give to them is to a very sad no.
Just last week, a friend of mine launched his book and his ultimate goal is to target both local and international audience and after we set up his payment channel using Voguepay Payment Gateway, his mood changed from been excited to what I could describe as ‘stunned’ when I told him, his international clients won’t be able to buy freely as he’d initially thought. And what could come to my friend’s mind is to sell his book on amazon and use his well designed website that was prepared to sell the book on its own to a mere landing page that will redirects users to his Amazon book page.
My friend’s expression on the phone took my mind back to why we need Paypal Business Account in Nigeria.
Paypal Business Introduced in Nigeria
In my quest to see if I could come up with a paypal altenative that we could use in Nigeria, I decided make a little research of my own, looking on alternatives like Payza, Bitcoin, and many more, with the aim of finding something similar to Paypal even though I know that none of them could give the same level of service and none is widely used like Paypal, I stumbled upon www.paypal.com itself to compare some of their sevices with the ones I’ve jotted down, And behold what I saw is just below

I’m not so sure when this was introduced, but one thing I was sure of was that I would definitely click the signup button.

Hi, Taiwo, this piece is quite rich and informative, but I just clicked the link to set up a business account, and there is no option for a business account as shown in the image on your blog, only personal account.
I already have Paypal personal account which I can only pay out from. Now I am building an online business and I need a platform to receive USD payments, what’s your advice?
I’ll advise you go for an alternative payment processor as Paypal do not currently support Nigeria receiving payment. If you can get a good VPN though, you should be able to manage a USA Paypal account. This is risky though cos when they discover, you not only lose your account, but every penny in it will also go.
