Are you a movie lover? Would you like to watch Foreign movies from the popular American Hollywood to the Indian Bollywood on the go and on every devices ranging from mobile phones, Tablets, PCs and your Television? Then this article is just for you as we are reviewing the world’s most popular movie streaming service, Netflix Nigeria.

Netflix allows you to watch latest and classic Foreign Movies from the American Hollywood to the popular Indian Bollywood movies and expected to add the fast growing Nigerian Nollywood to its popular database, but before then, Nigerian movie lovers don’t need to panic as we have our own Iroko TV providing similar services to Netflix but covering Nigerian Nollywood and the Ghanaian Ghallywood for now and according to it’s CEO, it’s expected to go international very soon.

Even though Nigerians watch Millions of videos daily on Google owned Youtube, no one can boldly say 50% of videos watched on Youtube are of high quality and are not pirated versions of the original videos. Youtube is a platform for everyone to upload anything, it is not a platform for online movies even though movie clips can be watched on the platform. There are several channels on Youtube providing full movies but these channels only bring you outdated movies so they could promote the latest ones. Therefore, there are just two platforms for watching latest, legal and high quality movies, and they are Netflix Nigeria for foreign Movies and Iroko TV for Nigerian and Ghanaian Movies.

Introducing Netflix Nigeria

Netflix Nigeria

Online streaming is not a common thing in Nigeria few years back but with the introduction of 3G network by all the major service providers in the country and private networks like 4G by spectranet have completely changed our views on streaming, from the un-achievable to day to day activities. The major question now is, where do we go to watch quality and legal movies online since over 70% of the most watched foreign movies in Nigeria are pirated and of low qualities.

An hour after its announcement of adding over 130 more countries (Including Nigeria) to it’s system, Netflix shares went up by six percent, that is to say the company gained much more trust from it’s investors. The American Hollywood movies and the Indian Bollywood Movies are the two most watched movies in Nigeria after the Nollywood Nigerian Movies, services Netflix renders by default, meaning Netflix can provide exactly what we’ve been longing for that is, watching latest popular movies, movie series and many more of high quality.

Netflix Currently have over 70 Million subscribers most of which are Americans, the company saw the potential in the Nigerian Movie market so it decides to take it’s services to Nigeria. Netflix Currently provides different movie genres, including;

• Action & Adventure
• Children & Family Movies
• Comedies
• Dramas
• Musicals
• Romantic Movies
• Sci-Fi & Fantasy
• Thrillers
• Sport Shows
• etc.

Can I watch Nigerian Movies on Netflix?

The answer is YES. Currently, there are dozens of Nigerian Movies on Netflix Nigeria, though this list is not as rich as that of IrokoTV when it comes to Nigerian Movies, but I have seen quite some award winning Nigerian Movies that are not only recognized in Africa, but through out the world. Some of these movies include;

• October 1

What Network and Plan is Suitable for Netflix?

With the emergence of fast data services in Nigeria recently, gone are the days when Nigerians are always scared of online streaming. Choosing the best network service in Nigeria for streaming depends on two factors, your location and the pricing.

As early as a week ago, we discovered that there is a huge competition among the network providers in the provision of affordable data services, MTN for example surprisingly launched a data plan that costs N1000 for a data size of 1.5GB compared to it’s previous plan of 260MB for the same N1000. GLO, ETISALAT and AIRTEL have done something similar in the past by beating their own outrageous prices and making their plans more friendly to an average Nigerian.

If you are in a location where Spectranet and Smile 4G is available, I’ll always recommend those two as they are two of the few data providers that offer 4G network service in Nigeria. However Networks like Etisalat and MTN have proving to be efficient when it comes to online streaming.

Netflix Data Plans in Nigeria

Using a normal data plan to stream high quality videos may seem too expensive for an average Nigeria, two netwoks, Etisalat and Airtel have however tried to solve this problem facing Nigerians since the launch of Netflix Nigeria. They have come up with data plans where you can subscribe and watch for a fixed time. Below is how to subscribe for the Etisalat and Airtel special Netflix data plans and hopefully other network providers will come with similar plans.

How to Subscribe for the Etisalat Netflix and Chill Plan

Etisalat is the first network provider in Nigeria to launch a special Netflix data plan, this plan costs N400 for 2 hours of streaming on Netflix. This is a very good move compared to using the normal data plans to stream which might cost over N2000 to stream for two consecutive hours.

To subscribe for this plan, simply dial *229*3*5# on any etisalat powered device and make sure you have a minimum balance of N400. In less than two minutes, your subscription will be activated and you can start ‘Chilling with Netflix Nigeria’.

How to Subscribe for Airtel Netflix Plan

In a quick move to join the trending Netflix train, Airtel quickly launched it’s own Netflix data plan weeks after Etisalat’s launching. Airtel

To subsuscribe for the Airtel Netflix Plan, dial *439*4# from your Airtel sim and the sum of N180 will be deducted instantly and your plan activated. So you can enjoy your favorite movie or show on Netflix Nigeria for the next 1 hour.

Other network providers are expected to join the train soon and bring to us more friendly data plans so we can enjoy the services of Netflix to the maximum.
