Windows Live Writer – the best desktop client for various blogging platforms. a popular application among bloggers between the year 2007 to 2011, do you remember the name? However in 2012 Microsoft, that created this program, decided to stop its development. I am glad to inform you that our beloved program is reborn from the ashes and became even better.
It is not clear what happened to the team of developers of Microsoft, but three years after the closing of Windows Live Writer they announced in this blog about the new turn in the history of this project. The program returns to the users, but under the name Open Live Writer.
Apart from the name, the app also has changed its status. Now it is an open source project with the free source code, the development of which can connect users from around the world. As planned by the initiators, this step is to ensure active development of the project, which even after few years of disappearance, still have dedicated users who are willing to embrace us once more. According to statistics, this blogging client remains the most popular on windows.
New Open Live Writer is already available for download on the home page, where you can also read the latest news from the developers. While there is currently no additional features (compared to Windows Live Writer) in the new version, it is hoped that now the project will receive a new life and start to develop rapidly. And it can not but rejoice.
