Tecno Camon C9 was released in June 2016. Before the value of the Naira got this hapless one could get the phone purchased at forty-eight thousand Naira; N48,000.
As it stands now with exchange rate, this phablet goes for as much as sixty-two thousand eight hundred Naira, N62,800.

I am yet to come across any Tecno phone that is water-resistant, I imagine the firm is not that interested in this aspect. A community or region that is close to or a riverine area would prefer water-resistant phones so also would be the case of anyone who works in a condition or place where he or she is constantly around water.
The device comes with the FM(frequency modulation) radio, the conventional 3.5mm jack, that is the opening for the earphone. In place of the microUSB type C connector, it brandishes the old-school microUSB 2.0 and supports dual miniSIM. The dimension or size of the phablet measures 153mm by 76.4mm by 10.35mm.
The reason our phones go blank when we are on calls is due to the proximity sensor that comes with Android and even Apple operating systems. The screen going blank prevents input of characters on the phone in error.
Tecno Camon C9 comes with iris scanner which is located at the rear along with the camera but that is just about it as it does not feature the fingerprint scanner.
The screen of this phablet is 5.5 inches with full HD (High Definition) display. Aside the embedded Android version 6 better called Marshmallow, it has its own user interface, the HiOS. To better appreciate a user interface, a portion of it is the display on the screen of the phone when it is switched on.
Few years back when I was reading about the iris scanner I honestly did not expect it to come on us this soon. What this good development portends is that in no distant time Automated Teller Machines (ATM) will be using it too.
So, in the place of accessing your account all you need to do is look into the machine for it too grant access to your account, the hindrance I foresee with this is the naivety and illiteracy associated with developing countries such as our dear country, Nigeria.
How else can one explain the fact that still few of our ATM machines use the screen touch user interface.Even though the fingerprint scanning is a far better security feature than the use of numbers and/or letters as passwords, eye scanner is just the best security measure.
Unconfirmed sources are lending credence to the fact that Camon part of the Tecno C9 name is simply a melding of ‘Camera On’ so as expected, the camera feature of this phablet is top notch.
The camera at the rear comes with is 13 mega pixel so also is the one at the front and both feature the flash. This is just one of the very few phones having a front camera with a flash and a camera of huge 13 megapixel which is centrally placed.
The positioning of this front camera provides for a broader coverage when snapping shots.I know of some phones that have huge cameras but operationally they churn out photos of poor quality.
Those who used BlackBerry back then would understand better what I am saying.Thankfully, this is not the case with the Tecno Camon C9.
STORAGE AND CAPACITY
The 2 gigabytes RAM is good enough for a phablet of this price range and its internal memory is 16 gigabytes which can be expanded with an external microSD card.
The Tecno Camon C9 runs on an octa-core processor chipset which clocks 1.3 gigaHertz. The operating system like earlier mentioned is the Marshmallow.
Factually speaking the octa-core and deca-core processors have just nominal differences. I see them basically as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) trying to show each other who has gone farther in advancement. Only really heavy users of phones who open and run several applications concurrently would even be able to distinguish between these two processors.
Whenever I see a phablet or phone for that matter not going beyond the 3000mAh mark in the second half of 2016, it is simply below par for me.
This impression was cemented in my ratings no thanks to the battery game of the Gionee phones considering the peculiar condition of our country where power supply is comatose. That being said, I am curiously waiting to see if after one or two years of using a Gionee phone with huge battery capacity the functionality will not drastically dwindle-something I doubt.
The Tecno Camon C9 supports from 2G to 4G LTE network platforms. It also embed the capacities of Wi-Fi 802.11b, Wi-Fi 802.11g, Wi-Fi 802.11n.
These Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) systems are serially in order of strength, therefore the Wi-Fi 802.11n is the strongest implying that it is the most capable for faster browsing in terms of downloading and data exchange.
The Wi-Fi 802.11b becomes the weak link among these three Wi-Fi options. The predecessor of this phablet, Tecno Camon C8 does not support 4G LTE.

INTRODUCING TECNO CAMON C9 PLUS
Tecno Camon C9 plus is the higher and better version of Tecno Camon C9 though not in aspects such as the battery capacity which is disappointing for me on a personal level.
The RAM size along with the internal storage comes in bigger sizes of 3GB and 32GB respectively. It has an 8-core processor. Permit me to say this is just unnecessary, I believe this energy should have been channeled towards improving the battery capacity.
This development is superfluous to say the least. Anyway the dimension of this phablet is 153.5mm by 76.64mm by 10.90mm. It was released in September 2016.
I’ll be writing a more comprehensive review on the Tecno Camon C9 Plus in another post.
I want to sign out on this review by giving the differences between the phablet, phone and tablet.
The basic distinction lies in the size of the screens and resultantly in the sizes of these gizmos. For the phablet( a name derived from combining PHone and tABLET) the screen size ranges from 5 to 8 inches. On the other hand, the screen sizes of tablets range from 8.9 to 10 inches while phones have screen sizes ranging from 3 to 5 inches.
