Infinix Note 3 Specs and Review
Just like every reasonable individual or corporate entity, before embarking on a project you weigh your pros and cons. You consider factors such as ‘how can I make improvements on this product?’ ,’What were the faults associated with the previous product’? just to mention a few.
Infinix did pretty well in answering questions of this sort pragmatically. Little wonder Infinix Note 3 X601 is the second most sought after device in Nigeria, in 2016, the first being iPhone 7.
This truly remarkable when you consider the fact that there were some other good phones in the rank of Infinix Note 3 X601 that were released a whole seven months before this phablet debuted.I mean to release a cell in the second half of the
I mean to release a cell in the second half of the year, precisely August and still take the crown of the most craved after mobile phone means it deserves a closer look at.
It is not as though it is a verity that simply because it was the most sought after phone this then directly translates into it being the phablet that had the most sales in the year under review. For
For instance, none of us would want to argue that because iphone 7 was the most sought after phablet on Google in Nigeria, it was then sold out. Nothing could be farther from the truth in this case. A lot of factors come into play. The
A lot of factors come into play. The iPhone 7 made a lot of buzz for being the mobile device coming without the the earphone port more technically referred to as the 3.5mm jack, that it would be selling earphones called Airpods separately and at an exorbitant amount – for which the brand is known. So, checking out the iphone 7 was for the large part to be in the know for majority of Nigerians.I bet only an infinitesimal portion of the populace purchased this phone.
However, this is not the case with the Infinix Note 3 X601, even though coming at a price in the range of seventy to the mid-seventy thousand naira due to the dollar exchange rate at this moment makes it out of the reach of the masses. For the people that ‘googled’ this phablet their major concern was ‘how and when will I get this phone?’.
Trust Nigerians, for those that could not afford the brand new one, the used-phones market was another way out. This market is no more a fledgling one but a strong and thriving mart. Let’s head straight to reviewing what makes this device tick.
NETWORK AND CONNECTIVITY
With all the hype and buzz surrounding this Infinix device it still does not come with the 4G LTE which is the rave of the moment in terms of advertorials by the network providers.
How and why the phablet does not come with 4 LTE is something that is inexplicable to me and I am dumbfounded about. If the Infinix Note 2 which is its predecessor could come with support for 4G LTE, then I find this inconsistent.
It also has no NFC(Near Field Communication), that is just about the ‘does not come withs’.It is embedded with Wi-Fi 802.11a, Wi-Fi 802.11b, Wi-Fi 802.11g, Wi-Fi 802.11n, WI-Fi hotspot, DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth and the oldschool microUSB version 2.0.
The rear camera is 13 megapixel while the one at the front is 5 megapixels, both cameras come with flash. In Infinix Note 2 the front facing camera is 2MP.
The battery is 4500mAh,4040mAh in Note 2.I see a trend of batteries moving from Li-Ion to Li-Po, that is, from Lithium ion to Lithium Polymer.
For the overheating which users of Note 2 bitterly complained about the firm came up with the ACT(Aerospace Cooling Technology) to deal with the problem. Still I have seen people complaining about overheating even with the Note 3.
The 6.0-inch screen is still stuck on LCD when some brands are on the more advanced OLED and AMOLED levels. The difference will be insignificant for most phone users though.
It is a dual microSIM enabled phablet.Phablets are mobile devices with screen sizes ranging from 5 to 8 inches.
The size or dimension of the Infinix Note 3 phablet is 162.5mm by 82.8mm by 8.4mm.Even though it is longer and a pint-size wider than the Note 2,it is sure slimmer.
It is a touchscreen device available in gray, gold, black and copper colours. Most of these ‘Chinese’ phone making companies are yet to break into the making of IPS(Ingress Protection Scale) devices, that is, devices that are water-resistant.
It got me wondering is it that integrating this technology will lead to very significant increase in the price of their devices? Are they just seeing it as another marketing strategy to cash-in on at their own appropriate time?Time like they will definitely tell.
SOFTWARE AND MEMORY
The Infinix Note 3 is loaded with the Android Marshmallow operating system and the new XOS user interface of Infinix. It runs on a 2 gigabyte RAM and possesses an internal memory of 16 gigabytes which is expandable to as much as 128 gigabytes with the use of an external microSD (microSecure Digital) also called TF card(TransFlash card). The device runs on an octa-core processor.
I do hear people say sometimes that there is really no difference between versions of operating systems for instance between Android Lollipop and Android Marshmallow.Let me lay it bare and allow you make a conclusion.
The device runs on an octa-core processor.I do hear people say sometimes that there is really no difference between versions of operating systems for instance between Android Lollipop and Android Marshmallow.Let me lay it bare and allow you make a conclusion.
In the Android Lollipop when you want to install an application you have to grant the app (application) total and permission before you can download the application while in Marshmallow you are allowed to download apps then grant individual permissions such as granting access to your device location.
Secondly, with the ‘Doze’ function of the Marshmallow, when your device is inactive for a given period of time it goes into this mode that saves 30 percent of battery life what Lollipop has is the Extended Battery Usage feature which is less effective.
Marshmallow also after the necessary settings allows external MicroSD card to serve as internal memory allowing applications to be installed on the memory card. This provision is not made for in Android Lollipop. There are other improvements such as in Google now, USB Type C CONNECTOR. The aim here is not to treat the advancement of Marshmallow over Lollipop exhaustively.
The Infinix Note 3 is one of the most affordable high end phones in Nigeria. Considering the wonderfull features of this phone, it is surely a bargain at the rate of N55,000 Naira. You can get Infinix Note 3 on JUMIA and KONGA.
